About the Artist

Kimberly Van Zee is a Midwest contemporary visual artist whose work examines the tension between clarity and obscurity. While largely self-taught, she developed a deep connection to oil painting during her college years, where she began to focus on it as her primary medium.

Her inspiration comes from the transformative properties of water in both its literal and symbolic forms. These can include vapor, droplets, liquids, mist or steam. Though she strays from this theme occasionally, water always seems to come back in a new configuration. She invites viewers into a space where meanings can shift or dissolve in a single moment.
